I am the mother of three children the eldest a girl, is a four year college student, my son, 14 and will be entering high school in the fall and my youngest child a girl eight years old who is in resource due to early hearing and speech delay. I was working for a few outsource companies for the past five years. I am a computer technician. I moonlight as a screenplay writer and aspiring producer/director. I was fired and rehired in the same week by my company who chose to be courteous to the client instead of me. I have always defined myself as a hard worker but my children come first. I accepted a usual assignment from one of my employers who was barely keeping me afloat in the Michigan let alone American economy. I went to do the assignment that was a usual assignment. Take out these computers and peripherals and put these new ones in kind of stuff. Not that simply but I want to get to the point. I went in did the inventory set everything up and attempted to run the programs from their server and not much work was done that day due to the network dropping the builds that myself and another tech were trying to pull over. We reported that the network and the peripherals that we were using to do this job we dysfunctional. The company we were doing this for stated that this job was to be done in 10 hours. Then I alone was to do the Asset management the next day. Well I reported to the project manager that all wasnt well and the job was going to take longer due to the network and inoperable cds and tools that were shipped to do the job slowed us down. Instead of sending out new equipment or more help they let us go at the end of the day and my company that I never had any problems from for five years fired us. I did try to explain myself to the company but they were not hearing me. I let them know that they were making a huge mistake. Mind you, this was not the only project I worked on with them. I was looking forward to be hired in by the very company inwhich this project manager worked. Not to mentiion I worked all year for a major bank project with my company. I got a phone call a few days later from a co-worker that I worked with on a project one year ago. He stated that he saw my signature on the check list for this project and that he spoke with out company on my behalf and that this project was underestimated by the project manager. I thanked him. I got a phone call from my employer, they told me that I was rehired after a carefull review. BULLSH**T! I know that Steve explained what happened and they felt stupid for what they did. I will never work for a company that does not respect the employee. We are not just robots we are human being with real lives. I havent been ablt to find work ever since and me and my kids are homeless in Michigan living from pillar to post. I am working on my moonlighting projects until work comes through. I just had to write this to let everyone know what's really going on with these companies and them taking employees for granted without benefits. Only an hourly wage. I am going back to school now to further my education in the same field but a different and more stable field RHIT. Excited about learning the medical field while staying in my field. I say when the going gets tough re-invent yourself in more than one way and hold onto your hopes and keep moving towards your dreams.
